IN-HOUSE MEDIATION TRAINING

Approach to Client Involvement:

·      Confidentiality

Discussions between the mediator and the parties are in complete confidentiality. Confidential issues can only be revealed in a joint meeting with the permission of the party. In the case of Workplace Mediations the detail content of joint meetings is not revealed to the Referrer, only the outcome.

Services Provided:

With over 45 years experience in negotiation and assisting clients in dispute resolution Colin Robertson now devotes his expertise to assisting training others to achieve resolution, across all elements of dispute, solely through mediation. Though Commercial mediations dominate the profession, he has a particular expertise in disputes involving emotional/relationship issues through Workplace and Partnership/Family Relationship/Business Relationship/Partnerships to Neighbour disputes. This has contributed to a particularly high success rate in clients achieving agreement/resolution.

Based near Leeds, he has carried out regular mediations mainly throughout, but not limited to, Northern England. However, when appropriate, remote/online mediation, allows this to be carried out in any location where time-zone compatibilities exist.

·      Workplace Mediation Training

·      In-House – ‘Introduction to Workplace Mediation’ (2-3 Day Course)

This course can range between one to eight delegates (more delegates can be included with additional co-mediator support) and is conducted face to face (f2f) on the organisation’s premises. The purpose of this is, by the end of the course, for all the delegates to understand the main elements of Workplace Mediation and be capable of organising and conducting non-complex in-house mediations with their staff members. The course will also identify differing mediator styles that can be employed for inter-staff disputes, line management through to the boardroom. This is an introductory course and therefore does not lead to a workplace mediation qualification. An off premises version of this course could be arranged at additional cost.

·      In-House – ‘Refreshing Workplace Mediation Practice/Workshop (1 or 2 Day Course)

This course is best served with a range of between one and five delegates and is conducted face to face (f2f) usually over one or two days, on the organisation’s premises. The purpose of this course is for all delegates to either refresh their mediation practices and/or to discuss difficulties they have encountered/experienced and get feedback from the trainer and fellow delegates. This process solidifies each delegate’s confidence and their ability to control future difficult cases. An off premises version of this course could be arranged at additional cost. An online version of this course is also available according to enquirers’ requirements.

·      Community/Relationship/Neighbour Mediation Training

The purpose of this is, by the end of the course, for all the delegates to understand the main elements of Community Mediation and be capable of organising and conducting non-complex neighbour mediations e.g. between tenants or Community group members. The course will also identify the differing mediator experience/training requirements and styles between Commercial and Workplace. This is an introductory course and therefore does not lead to a community mediation qualification. An off premises version of this course could be arranged at additional cost.
